If you were forced to watch every disaster in hundreds of weddings, would you still believe in the magic of them? In, âA Hundred Weddingsâ, by Cathy Cruise, the reader is thrown through the very realistic possibility of hating the most wonderful day in someoneâs life. The main character, Katie, has seen it all when it comes to weddings, except the legendary âperfectâ wedding. So, when sheâs called home for one last surprise wedding, can she face the oncoming disaster or will her hopes in love completely dissipate? Will she finally witness that fairytale ending for a special bride?
Cruise gives the readers a eye opening look into that highly anticipated night. Into the tears, the cold feet, the anxiety & stress, the whole 9 yards. Part of this reality is brought to life by her characters. Personally, Katie was a surprise to me. With every action, & thought pattern, I saw myself. With readers being able to connect themselves into the story, Cruise allows for them to feel as if they are walking alongside the characters. To put themselves inside their shoes.
Letâs set the story aside for just a second. I typically donât veer away on reviews like this, but it felt like an important reading aspect. That is, the font. Iâm sure itâs a widely used font but it really caught my attention this time. It drew me into the story almost as much as the writing itself. I applaud the publisherâs for this because it really was a key point when I did my first flip through. So yes, I adored Cathyâs font.
Hereâs the part everyone is waiting for, the recommendation. Would I? Should I? Yes, & yes! This is such a beautiful & adorable read! It will make you laugh, cry, scream, say âaha!â. Itâs quite wonderful! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes romance/fiction without all the chick flick stuff, or without the deep sex scenes. Itâs a nice quick read as well.
